NAB registers cases against the corrupt: Firdous

F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said Tuesday that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) registers cases only against the corrupt elements and does not summon the innocent people.

Talking to media persons outside Parliament House, she said that powerful people had made the entire system hostage and Imran Khan had promised the nation that the rich and the poor would be treated equally by the law and he deserves congratulations for implementation of his vision.

She said that arrest of two powerful personalities during past 24 hours was a good omen as the present government has won the hearts of the people by equal implementation of law for all.

She made it clear that no gang would be allowed to protect their illegally acquired property by using the name of democracy. She said when the institutions would become strong, no criminal would go scot-free. The SAPM said that in the coming budget steps are being taken to provide relief to the people of the country while the resourceful people would share the burden. The budget will be a poor friendly which will reflect Prime Minister Imran Khan’s concern for downtrodden people of the country, she remarked.

She said it is constitutional responsibility of the government and the opposition to work together for the betterment of masses and the government will welcome suggestions from opposition to improve the budget document.

She said that unlike the previous budgets, the coming budget would reduce the gap between the rich and the poor segments of the society.

She also said that the new budget would strengthen the relationship between the government and masses as it would promote pro-people policies. She said that the budget was not of the government, but the entire nation.

She said that the budget would be instrumental in making Pakistan as developed and prosperous country and the media should stand by those who have been struggling for people’s rights and support the government efforts to mitigate their problems.

To a question, she said that Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazalur Rehman should not focus his energies on Islamabad but entire Muslim Ummah and all religious scholars should create consensus on issues related to Muslim world.

She said that the courts have exposed the faces of corrupt elements. She said that Ishaq Dar left the country after plunging the economy in deep crisis.

To another question, she said that the government has prepared a comprehensive policy for the budget and opposition hue and cry was a customary practice. She said that nobody would be allowed to take undue advantage from the new budget.

About the targets of the budget, she said that the previous government had realized that it could not win 2018 elections, so they set unrealistic targets.

The SAPM said that no government wants anarchy in the country but corrupt elements could not be allowed to go scot-free.

She said that for many decades many families looted the resources of the nation, but now it has given Imran Khan the mandate to rid them of this rotten system.

The PTI has come to power to resolve problems of the country and not to push them under carpet.

The PTI has not come to power to get political advantages but to keep the national interest supreme and take decisions for betterment of the nation.

Paying tributes to the Armed Forces for freezing their budget, she said that they have always offered sacrifices for the nation.
