Nasir praises WaterAid services for province

KARACHI: On Friday, WaterAid Pakistan organized a 3-days training wor-kshop in collaboration with Sindh Local Government Department in Karachi.

The ceremony was attended by the Provincial Minister for Local Govern-ment and Information Syed Nasir Hussain Shah. He also praised the contribution of WaterAid Pakistan in WASH Sector and proposed to collaborate under the Clean & Green Pakistan initiative in Sindh province. Syed Nasir Hussain Shah also distributed the certificates.

The theme of this workshop was “Water, Sanita-tion and Hygiene (WASH) – Policies, Systems and Service Delivery.”

The workshop was attended by the representatives of Sindh Civil Services and Local Government Academy, Tando Jam, Local Govern-ment & House Town Planning Department, Karachi Water &Sewerage Board (KW&SB), Water and Sanitation Authority (WASA) Hyderabad and Sindh Solid Waste Management Board.

While addressing the ceremony Shah commented that “I would like to encourage all the public sector representatives here to utilize their learning’s through such trainings so that the service delivery at grassroots level can be improved.”

He was also of the view that the capacities of officials needs to be at par with requirements of their job which also includes providing effective services of clean drinking water and sanitation to the people. 

The workshop included variety of sessions from the experts and representatives of WaterAid, SDG Unit Sindh, UNICEF, Agha Khan University, Sindh Civil Services & Local Government Academy and WaterAid Pakistan. 

Previously during the three-day course, WaterAid Head of Programme Munawar Hassan stated that in a session that WaterAid was committed to collaborate with relevant stakeholders and government partners to improve water and sanitation services. He said water and sanitation was important part of Pakistan’s international human rights commitments and SDG targets. 

Whereas the last day of the training, the session was closed with the remarks from the chief guest Minister for Local Government, Forest, Religious Affairs, Information, Housing & Town Planning Syed Nasir Hussain Shah.

The training ended with the presentation of the certificates to the participants.
