Newly-elected CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz showers loads of praise on ASP Shehrbano for rescuing woman from mob

LAHORE: Newly-elected Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has showered loads of praise on Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Syeda Shehrbano Naqvi for rescuing a woman from an angry mob in Lahore.

In a statement on Monday, Maryam Nawaz said: “Thank you Shehrbano!, we are all proud of you.”

She lauded the bravery, dedication, wisdom, and sense of duty displayed by the police officer to avert an incident which could turn into violence any moment.

She commended Shehrbano for her efforts in countering extremism and handling the mob’s pressure in a tense situation.

“If ASP Gulberg Shehrbano Naqvi had not arrived in time, there was a risk of an incident,” Maryam said.

Meanwhile, the Punjab police have recommended ASP Shehrbano’s name for the prestigious Quaid-e-Azam Police Medal (QPM), the highest gallantry award for law enforcers in Pakistan.

Further, Maryam Nawaz stated, “I hope that every police officer should enthusiastically plays his or her role in ensuring security and safety of citizens with courage.”

Later, in her victory speech after being elected as Punjab chief minister, Maryam Nawaz again praised the female police officer, saying “I will call her to my office and pat her back as she has done a splendid job.”

It is pertinent to mention here that on Sunday, a mob in Lahore Ichra Bazaar surrounded a woman for wearing a dress adorned with Arabic calligraphy. ASP Shehrbano controlled the situation and saved the woman from the angry mob.
