Online vegetables, fruit homes delivery service attracts Peshawarties

PESHAWAR: The online vegetables and fruits home delivery service of the KP Agriculture and Livestock Department have attracted Peshawarites during the holy month of Ramazan in the wake of COVID-19 outbreak.

The much awaited service were started in Peshawar, Mardan, Abbottabad, Bannu and Mansehra districts where response of people is overwhelming.

Quality and frash varieties are being supplied to people from the online fruits and vegetables centres established in these districts to facilitate thousands of fast keepers during Ramazan besides protecting them from coronavirus.

People of different shades of life are taking great interest in the service in Peshawar where they are being provided fresh watermelon, bananas, melon, strawberry, grapes, kajoor, potatoes, onions, tomatoes, kachalo, lady fingers, cauliflower, pumpkin,  ginger, garlic, chilli, capsicum and others season al varieties at affordable prices at their doorsteps.

“I prefer to purchase vegetables and fruits from online service because it is frash and cost-efficient,” said Muhammad Arif Khan, a resident of Hayatabad Peshawar while talking to APP.

He said the service has made deep inroads in push localities like Hayatabad during the two months long lockdown by attracting consumers of all aged groups especially women folk.

“It save my time and energy otherwsie spent while visiting fruits and vegetables markets besides make me and my family safe from COVID-19,” said Arif Khan.

Before coronavirus pandemic, he said his relatives brought vegetables from my hometown Pabbi but due to COVID-19 crisis and Ramazan, he turned towards online home delivery service of the KP Government.

Shafiq Khan, a resident of Hayatabad said the service was a positive intiative of KP Agriculture Department that provided the much-needed relief to consumers.

He expressed the hope that such services should be launched in others districts of KP. Agriculture and Livestock Department Minister Mohibullah Khan said the initiative has been taken to provide relief to COVID-19 lockdown affected people.

The Minister hinted to extend the service to others districts of Khyber Pakthunkhwa.

He said maximum facilities would be provided to farmers and agricultural growers.

The Minister appreciated the goal oriented measures taken by the Agriculture and Livestock Department for facilitation of people and farmers during the lockdown.

He said Government has already allowed opening of cattle markets in the province and urged traders and people to adopt all safety measures against COVID-19.

Mohibullah Khan said no compromise would be made on standard operating procedures (SOPs) at cattle markets and strict action would be taken against violators.

The Minister highly appreciated the easing of lockdown restrictions by the Federal and Provincial Governments to facilitate people and business communities besides agricultural and livestock growers immensely.

He said coronavirus was a pandemic and it is our collective responsibility to keep social distancing and stay in homes to defeat it.
