F.P. Report

KARACHI: Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Langar and Provincial Minister Saeed Ghani said that Aseefa Bhutto’s victory was written on the wall and opponents were raising hue and cry for face-saving.

Addressing a press conference PPP leaders claimed that Aseefa Bhutto Zardari’s unopposed victory showed that people of Sindh repose full confidence in the PPP.

Saeed Ghani said the PPP won the NA 207 seat after rival candidate Ghulam Muhammad Rind’s papers were rejected by the Election Commission and their claim that Ghulam Muhammad Rind had disappeared was not true.

Sindh Home Minister said the provincial government was taking steps to restore peace in Karachi.

Saeed Ghani said it is sad that some elements were making the success of Aseefa Bhutto as controversial, adding that the NA seat of Nawab Shah was always easy for PPP. During the last 3 elections, the People’s Party has easily won this seat. He said PPP was claiming this time PPP would get double votes if Aseefa Bhutto contested the elections. It was good luck that the papers of Aseefa Bhutto’s rival candidate were rejected.

PPP leaders said those who were disputing Aseefa Bhutto’s success will gain nothing, PPP advised opponents to accept the defeat.

Zia-ul-Hassan Langar claimed that crime was decreasing in interior Sindh. He claimed Sindh police were capable of improving law and order.

Sindh government said that operations against dacoits in the Kacha areas of Sindh will also be successful. A thousand personnel will be deployed during the operation. PPP leaders said recent crime reports in Karachi were not like those reported during 2008 and 2013. Dead bodies are no longer found in Karachi. There is only street crime in Karachi.

Sindh Home Minister said actions were being taken to eliminate street crime in the city. He said IGP was told that the SHO of the area will be changed where the crime will take place.

Moreover, IGP Sindh was told that now the matter will not be limited to SHO and even senior officials of the area will also be removed if crime does not get controlled in the area.

Saeed Ghani said MQM convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui was a senior politician who should not say such things that there will be any law and order situation in the city like that of 1992.

PPP leaders urged Governor Sindh not to take up controversial points and focus on public work.
