Pakistan Army is pride of the Pakistani nation: Ashrafi

ISLAMABAD: Chairman Pakistan Ulema Council, Special Representative to Prime Minister on Religious Harmony and Middle East Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi said Pakistan Army is the pride of the Pakistani nation.

Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi talking to media said as the service rendered by the Pakistan Army on the instructions of the Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa in the current difficult situation are exemplary as per it’s traditions.
“We are especially grateful to the Islamic brotherly countries that they have extended cooperation as a result of the contacts of the Prime Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif and the Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa,” he said in an interaction with the media on Saturday.

Chairman Pakistan Ulema Council, Special Representative to Prime Minister on Religious Harmony and Middle East Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi said Pakistan grateful to the brotherly countries for their cooperation and assistance with the flood affected people in the country. “We are thankful for the cooperation of the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, China and the United Kingdom for flood victims in Pakistan,” he said.

Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi said we like to invite international organizations and leading world personalities to come to Pakistan to help the flood victims across the country.

He stated that Pakistan alone cannot cope with the damages caused by floods in different parts of of the country. “It is a pity that the political leadership of the country could not be united even after the flashflood,” he said.

In response to another question, Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi said that the process of reconciliation should start within the country. “We hope that Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi and the President Dr Arif Alvi will play an important role in the process of reconciliation,” he said.

He said all the Chief Ministers should have attended the meeting to formulate a consensus policy on flood on the invitation of the Prime Minister.

The Chairman PUC said the services of the Pakistan Army, and volunteers of Madaris and Masajid and workers of religious organizations in flood hit areas are proudful.
He said endeavours on part of Palestine for ‘Pakistan Solidarity Day’ and assistance for flood victims of Pakistan are commendable.

Special Representative of Prime Minister of Pakistan for Interfaith Harmony and Middle East Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi said that anywhere in Pakistan, donations are not being collected by banned outfits.

He said that Pakistan is in a difficult situation, adding that India should stop blaming at this time.
