Pakistan, Bangladesh to kick off T20 Tri-Series in NZ tomorrow

F.P. Report

LAHORE: The three teams are ready to roll into action from October 7 to 14 as a trophy for the T20I tri-series between Pakistan, Bangladesh, and the hosts New Zealand was unveiled on Thursday.

The trophy of the triangular series was revealed by the captains of the participating teams as Pakistan skipper Babar Azam, New Zealand’s Kane Williamson and Nurul Hasan of Bangladesh posed with the trophy.

The pictures of the trophy unveiling were also shared by the Pakistan Cricket Board on its official Twitter account.

The opening game of the tri-series will be played between Pakistan and Bangladesh on Friday (tomorrow). All the matches of the series will be played at Hagley Oval.

Earlier, the Pakistani team reached Christchurch on Tuesday, two days after concluding the seven-match T20I home series against England which Pakistan lost by 4-3.

The tri-nation series is expected to give the participating teams much-needed confidence before the mega-event, ICC men’s T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia, starting from October 16.

‘The more I play with Babar Azam, the more I learn,’ Shadab Khan writes in his column

Babar Azam’s deputy Shadab Khan showed full confidence in his skipper before Pakistan’s last preparatory assignment before the T20 World Cup 2022. In his column published on Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)’s official website, Shadab wrote how players are looking forward to paying back to their skipper in upcoming matches.

“In my previous column, I wrote about Babar Azam’s leadership. This man is incredible: the more I play with him, the more I learn about the man and the more I admire him!

“The way this 27-year-old, who is relatively new to the leadership role, has handled relentless pressure and sometimes unfair criticism while ensuring his own performance doesn’t slip, is simply mindboggling. He has stood like a rock for his players and fully backed them. This is the hallmark of a leader, this is how you earn respect from your players and this is how you develop your team,

“Babar has thrown his complete weight behind each and every member of his side and now the onus is on all of us to deliver. We need to justify the faith Babar has put in our talent, credentials, and skills. If we have to make our captain stand tall and be proud, then we have to convert our potential into performances. The captain is giving us everything we need to stamp our mark and authority at the international level, we now have to rise to the occasion, it’s as simple as that.
