Pakistan U19 beat Sri Lanka U19 in second ODI

KARACHI: Pakistan U19 team defeated Sri Lanka U19 by 59 runs in the second ODI at the National Stadium, Karachi, on Tuesday.

The Sri Lankan side was restricted to 195 during their chase of 255 runs. The Islanders needed some big runs from their players but not a single batter could stand for long and play a big knock for their side.

Pulindu Parera top-scored for his side with 36 off 28, his knock included seven boundaries but the opener fell to Obaid Shah and walked back to the pavilion.

Ravishan de Silva and Vihas Thewmika were top joint second top-scorers for the visitors with 32 runs but none were enough to take the Islanders over the line.

Shah and Ahmed Hussain took three wickets for the Green Shirts, Naveed Ahmed Khan took two while Aftab Ahmed and Mohammad Ibtisam picked one each.

Batting first, Pakistan managed to post a competitive 255-run target courtesy of Arafat Minhas and Shamyl Hussain’s top knocks of 95 and 53 runs respectively.

Minhas’s top knock of 95 runs came on just 66 deliveries with an impressive 143.94 strike rate, his innings included 12 boundaries, nine fours and three sixes while Shamyl scored 53 off 84 balls with five boundaries. Minhas was named the Player of the Match for his rapid knock.

Riazullah Khan scored 28 runs off 39 balls.

For Sri Lanka, Garuka Sanketh and Ruvishan Parera took three wickets each while Dinura Kalupahan, Vishwa Lahiru and Sineth Jayawardene bagged one each.

The five-match ODI series is now tied 1-1 and both teams play the third match on October 27.
