Pakistan Women A beat West Indies A in first ODI

LAHORE: Pakistan Women’s A team beat West Indies A by eight runs in the first ODI at the Ghani Glass Ground DHA Phase VI, Lahore, on Tuesday.

An important win saw Pakistan leading the three-match ODI series by 1-0.

Chasing the target of 175 runs, the Caribbean side struggled from the start and lost their first wicket for 38 runs.

West Indies kept on losing wickets at intervals and were soon all out for just 166 runs. Their lower middle order of Mandy Mangru, Zaida James and Cherry-Ann Fraser failed miserably and scored a total of 15 runs.

Shabika Gajnabi top scored for West Indies with 29 off 44 balls with three boundaries, she was followed by skipper Rashada Williams’ 27 off 39.

Anosha Nasir, Rameen Shamim and Saima Malik took two wickets each while Humna Bilal got one, making a statement with an all-round performance with the ball.

Batting first, Gull Feroza scored 62 off 101 and powered Pakistan to a competitive 174-run total.

Apart from Feroza, none of the Pakistani players could score more than 17 runs, which were scored by Shawaal Zulfiqar.

All of West Indies’ bowlers took at least one wicket with Cherry-Ann Fraser taking three, Zaida James getting two. While Jannillea Glasgow, Qiana Joseph, Sheneta Grimmond and Ashmini Munisar taking one each.
