PESHAWAR: With a view to highlight the importance of vaccination and involve multiple stakeholders as advocates for polio vaccination a day long Sehat Muhafiz Cricket Tournament was organized by Emergency Operations Center Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in collaboration with District Management here Wednesday at Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Sports, Tourism, Culture and Youth Affairs Muhammad Atif Khan was the chief guest on the occasion. Muhammad Atif Khan formally inaugurated the tournament. Coordinator EOC Capt (R) Kamran Afridi, Deputy Commissioner Peshawar Imran Sheikh, ADVC Shahid Khan, MNA Nasir Musazai, MPA Fazle-Ilahi, senior journalists, lawyers, representatives of district management and officials of EOC were in attendance.
There were four different teams in the first match Peshawar Press Club defeated Deputy Commissioner XI by eight wickets. Batting first Deputy Commissioner XI won the toss and elected to bat first by setting up 111 runs in the allotted 10 overs and thus Peshawar Press Club chased the target for the loss of three wickets in 7.3 overs.
In the second match the Bar Council XI recorded victory against Parliamentarian XI. Bar Council XI made 86 runs and restricted the Parliamentarian XI to 45 runs only with only MPA Engr. Fahim Khan and Fazali Elahi scored 17 and 13 runs respectively.
In the final match Bar Council XI team of lawyers stunned Peshawar Press Club team by 13 runs. Peshawar Press Club won the toss and invited Bar Council XI team to bat first. Bar Council XI team of lawyers scored 114 runs for the loss of seven wickets and restricted Peshawar Press Club team to 101 runs for eight in 10 overs. Thus Bar Council XI team won the match by 13 runs.
In the end, Assistant Deputy Commissioner Shahid Khan and MPA Fazal-e-Elahi and MP Faheem Khan gave away certificates to the participants. Kamran Afridi, Coordinator, Polio Emergency Center, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was also present on this occasion.
