PHC seeks explanation of changes in constituencies

PESHAWAR: Peshawar High Court (PHC) bench on Tuesday has issued notice to election commission seeking explanation against changing in constituencies of district Mardan.

Two-member bench of PHC comprising Justice Ikaramullah and Justice Musarat Hilali heard the case.

Members of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) assembly Atif Khan, Iftikhar Mashwani, Abdul Sallam, Zahir Shah and Tufail Anjum have filed petition in PHC through his lawyer Baber Yousafzai.

The lawyer for the petitioners  told to the court that, on 25 January 2019, the election commission has changed the union council areas and the election commission has not issued any notices to their areas elected KP assembly members.

They added that these members are facing problem for the development work for their voters because they changed  areas of different union council in their constituencies limits and these members are elected by their areas voters and now some of union council are not in their areas limits.

The petitioners pleaded to court to dismiss these changes of the areas of different union council for easiness of the development work for their voters which they expect from their elected members.

The court has sent notice to the election commission to submit explanation regarding the case till next hearing.
