PM office directed CDA to convert Shamilats land into public parks

ISLAMABAD: The Prime Minister office in a fresh move through ministry of interior directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to convert all Shamilats  (Community land) in federal capital Islamabad to public parks.

The documents available with The Frontier Post in which Chairman Capital Development Authority was directed to fulfill the dream of Prime Minister Imran Khan of green Pakistan through the move of converting all Shamilats land into public parks.

The direction available in documents added that a regulatory mechanism may be devised to convert Shamilats in Islamabad into public parks for preservation of green cover of the capital city and a detailed report to this effect should be shared with this office.

The office directed further that the anti-encroachment drive may be carried out with same zeal and spirit.

Its pertained to mentioned here that these directions were shared with the civic agency in January of the last year but Capital Development Authority didn’t adopt any mechanism on the issue and the PM office again reminded same directions last day for preservation of green cover of Islamabad.

An official of the civic agency told this corresponded that basically this move is a part of the Islamabad master plan which was constituted by Prime Minister last year.

He  further added that converting Shamilats land into public parks is a tough process which will be initiated with cooperation of the  same community and housing societies consist in the area.

He added that now the PM office again shared the direction so we will start a comprehensive plan for this efforts but it will take time.

Another official told this scribe that all these efforts are part of the Islamabad master plan but  the master plan is still in pending as different plans are in pending and will be approved after the  expert through ample light on all recommendations and policies.
