PM to open 3rd Governor FATA Youth Sports Festival

PESHAWAR: Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will inaugurate the most awaited 3rd Governor KP FATA Youth Sports Festival on Monday morning at Tehsil Jamrud Sports Complex, Khyber Agency.

This was stated by DG Sports Muhammad Nawaz Khan while talking to APP here on Sunday soon after inspecting different venues including the Jamrud Sports Complex, the venue for the grand opening ceremony. He said it is certainly very encouraging that the Prime Minister himself is coming and formally inaugurating the Games involving 3000 FATA Youth from seven agencies and six FRs.

The Games, he said, is aimed at to portray a soft image of FATA to the rest of the world besides giving due opportunities to the traumatize youth of FATA to come up and show their skills at national and international levels.

He said over the years FATA gone through under poor law and order situation, insurgency and militancy as a result the youth were most confined to their home rather to participate in healthy sports activities. He said due to successful operations and bravery by the people along with the Pakistan Army now normalcy has been restored to FATA and the rest of the country.

He said 3000 male and female players from seven agencies comprising North Waziristan Agency, South Waziristan Agency, Kurram Agency, Orakzai Agency, Khyber Agency, Mohmand Agency, Bajaur Agency and six FRs including FR Dera Ismail Khan, FR Tank, FR Lakki Marwat, FR Bannu, FR Kohat, FR Peshawar would participate in 25 different discipline.

He disclosed that arrangements have been made for holding poetic gathering, arts show and food stalls so that to facilitate and amuse maximum numbers of players and visitors. “All venues would give a conducive environment to the players to come and show their hiding talent,” he added. “We want to motivate and mold the youth of FATA toward healthy activities which could teach them sportsmanship, unity, tolerance, self-respects and above all a sense of responsibility, coherence and brotherhood because youth are the future builders of the nation,” he said.

He said holding of Games would certainly convey a message of peace to the rest of the world.  “We want to give a message of peace to the rest of the world through these Games as the Games are symbolized with the Moto of “Peace”, he added.

He said as desired by the Governor KP Engr. Iqbal Zafar Jhagra to involve each and every youth of FATA in these Games like we had in the past besides efforts afoot that the youth of FATA could be able play their role in rehabilitation and reconstruction of FATA.

He said through these games the sports facilities at Mohmand Agency, Bajaur Agency and Khyber Agency would be utilized and steps have been taken under the kind guidance of Additional Chief Secretary FATA Sikander Qayyum, Secretary Admin Mian Muhammad to have such facilities all across FATA for the youth.

He said all preparations in this connection have been given final touches and the Tehsil Jamrud Sports Complex, the venue of the opening ceremony, was fully decorated to hold this extravaganza in appropriate and befitting manners.

He said the Games will carry disciplines comprising Volleyball, football, judo, cricket, badminton, baseball, table tennis, karate, tug-of-war, hockey, athletics, weightlifting, taekwondo, wushu, bodybuilding, netball, boxing, archery etc. He also thanked Director General Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Junaid Khan for extending all out cooperation to the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs FATA.

He said most of the games will be organized in Peshawar Sports Complex apart of five to six Games in different agencies. He disclosed that the boxing will be organized at Lala Aman Boxing Arena Peshawar Sports Complex while the Kabaddi will be organized at Mohmand Agency, Badminton and cycling will be organized in Bajanur Agency, cricket will be organized in Jamrud Sports Complex, Rugby event will be organized in Civil Quarters ground. The rest of the games will be organized inside the premises of Peshawar Sports Complex.
