PML-N to rebuild Pakistan again: Nawaz

F.P. Report

MURREE: Supreme leader of Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N), Nawaz Sharif has pledged that his party after coming into power will start a train service from Islamabad to Murree and Muzaffarabad.

While addressing a public gathering in Murree on Monday, the former prime minister claimed that PML-N enjoys complete support of youth of the country. Regarding Kashmir Solidarity Day, he said Pakistan has always stood by the people of Indian illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

Nawaz Sharif taking jibe at Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) said that it neither fulfilled its promise nor did anything for Pakistan but PML-N will rebuild Pakistan again. Earlier in his Gujranwala Public gathering, the PML-N supremo pledged to eliminate poverty and unemployment in the country if he secures victory in the upcoming Feb 8 general elections.

If PML-N government had not been ousted, not a single person here would have been unemployed, he claimed. Nawaz Sharif while citing Transparency International’s report said Pakistan’s ranking on graft index improved under Nawaz Sharif-led government. “Not only corruption, the price of bread, flour and sugar were also at the lowest”, he reiterated.

He further said that the judge, who was in line to become new Chief Justice and awarded him sentence, resigned and went home. “That judge was involved in my ouster,” he added. “Had my government remained, people would have been satisfied; they would have been able to make ends meet, unlike today,” the PML-N supremo maintained.

With only two days left before the upcoming elections and political parties trying their best to woo the masses, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior vice-president Maryam Nawaz has promised the “highest development” if the party is voted into power. “[We] promise the highest development in Murree if the city chooses lion,” Maryam said while addressing a political gathering in Murree on Monday.

Her remarks come as most of the major political parties, including the PML-N, have premised their election campaigns on socio-economic uplift amid the prevailing dire economic indicators driven by a weakening local currency, depleting foreign exchange reserves and other factors.

Both the PML-N and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), which have emerged as key competitors to the former in the country’s largest province Punjab, have been actively propagating their “economic agenda” to woo the masses who have been facing the brunt of sky-high inflation and increasing inflation. Reiterating the provisions of the party’s election manifesto titled “Pakistan ko Nawaz do”, Maryam, who has been leading the party’s election campaign and is contesting in her first-ever general election from NA-119 and PP-159 constituencies, stressed that decide the future of next generations.

The PML-N stalwart’s remarks come as the party’s manifesto aims to slash electricity bills by 20-30% along with a 6% GDP growth target coupled with $60 billion worth of exports, $40 billion remittances and a reduced poverty level to 25% from 38% if five years. Urging the crowd to stamp on the lion — PML-N’s iconic electoral symbol — to get their problems solved, the scion of the Sharif family, who expressed her surprise over the large gathering at the hill station despite harsh weather, vowed the people of Murree to end their woes.
