PML-N’s Maryam Nawaz collects her passport from LHC

F.P. report

LAHORE: PML-N Vice-President Maryam Nawaz has collected her passport from the Lahore High Court on Tuesday.

The PML-N leader collected her travelling papers from deputy registrar (judicial) at the LHC. After getting her passport back, she left the court premises.

PML-N leader Pervaiz Rashid and Advocate Amjad Pervaiz also accompanied her.

Maryam had surrendered her passport on Oct 31, 2019 to the court in order to get bail in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case.

The Lahore High Court in its verdict on Monday ordered the deputy registrar (judicial) to return Maryam’s passport when the NAB deputy prosecutor general apprised the court that no investigation was currently underway against Maryam so the bureau did not require her passport anymore.

The order was passed by a three-judge bench of the LHC headed by Chief Justice Muhammad Ameer Bhatti and comprising Justice Ali Baqir Najfi and Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh.

According to the written order of the court released today, the NAB deputy prosecutor general expressed his disinclination to oppose Maryam’s request regarding her passport recovery.

The NAB prosecutor also informed the court that Maryam was no more required in any trial or investigation. After the reply from NAB, the court was left with no other option but to accept Maryam Nawaz’s plea.

So, this court withdraws its earlier order in compliance of which Maryam had surrendered her passport and directs deputy registrar (judicial) to return her passport after completing all judicial verifications, the order concluded.
