ISLAMABAD: As the government has launched a countrywide crackdown on the Afghan nationals staying illegally in the country as part of its plan to send them to their homes, Islamabad Police have completed geo-tagging of these nationals living in different parts of the federal capital.
Sources said that survey of the properties owned by Afghan nationals had also been completed.
They elaborated that the exact number of foreigners living in the country was known in the first digital census held in the country recently. Pakistan Bureau of Statistics has gathered the data of people living illegally in the country.
A day earlier, on Friday, Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch had said that all illegal Afghans must leave Pakistan by October 31; otherwise the law will take its own course.
The authorities started a clampdown on the illegal Afghan nationals after civilian and military leadership had taken the decision at the apex committee meeting to launch a massive operation against these people.
“Facilitation will be provided to those who voluntarily return to their countries but action will be taken against the illegal alien who does not return within 25 days,” the spokesperson said.
It is pertinent to note here that now only 25 days are left for the evacuation of foreigners living illegally in Pakistan.
“Pakistan’s laws regarding illegal residents are very clear and violators of the law will be fined and deported while no country can grant freedom of illegal residence to a person,” she added. (NNI)
