Police high alert to protect masses: DPO

PESHAWAR: District Police Officer (DPO) Najib-ur-Rehman has said that a red-alert has been issued in Mardan after the Peshawar incidents. The police personnel have been instructed not to take any negligence in protecting during Muharram-ul-Haram, all policemen vacations had been canceled.
More than 1000 personnel are performing duties to maintain law and order. PESCO imposes Rs4.3m fines on alleged electricity thieves: Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (PESCO) Bakhshali, Sajjad Khan, fined the consumer Rs 43 lakh for direct electricity connection and registered a case of electricity theft against him. The transformer and cable were taken into government custody.
According to the details, on the special instructions of SE Mardan Circle Ajmal Khan and XEN Mardan 2 Nisar Ali, SDO Pesco Sub Division Bakhshali Sajjad Khan along with Pesco staff raided the crushing plant in the limits of Bakhshali Sub Division during general checking.the crushing plant owner had taken direct connection to a transformer having a load of 116 KW.
A consumer involved in electricity theft was arrested red-handed and fined Rs 43 lakh while the consumer deposited Rs 25 lakh on the spot, according to SDO Sajjad Khan, the connection to the transformer was cut and taken into custody. While a case has also been registered against the said consumer under the Electricity Theft Act for further legal action, SDO Sajjad Khan said that electricity thieves will not be forgiven under any circumstances and action should be taken immediately upon receiving information.
