Police rescued passengers following snowfall

CHITRAL: Police rescued hundreds of vehicles going in Lower Chitral district in extreme rain and snowfall at Lowari to avoid any mishap due to weather calamity.
On the instructions of District Police Officer (DPO) Lower Chitral Nasir Mehmood, SDPO Darosh Iqbal Karim along with heavy police presence helped in moving the vehicles affected by heavy snowfall between Lowari Tunnel and Mirkhani towards Darosh.

Several affected passengers told local media over the phone that the police also helped these passengers get food and other facilities to resume their journey.

Appreciating the spirit of the policemen, he said that they did not care for their lives and helped the vehicles stuck in Lowari to reach safe places by pushing them.

Meanwhile, all the valleys of Upper and Lower Chitral districts are receiving reports of continuous rain and snowfall for the last 36 hours and Mastuj, Yarkhun, Laspur, Ower, Karimabad, Lotkoh, Sheshikoh and Sirsa received one and a half to two feet of snow. Motor vehicle traffic has been suspended in many valleys including Trich, Brughal, Khot. Both the districts of Chitral have been plunged into darkness due to disconnection from National Grid at Lowari Top of Chitral.
