PRCS to establish hospital to treat COVID-19 patients

ISLAMABAD: Chairman Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) Islamabad Abrar-ul-Haq on Thursday said that to cope with global pandemic of corona virus in the country, the government is going to establish a 150-bed hospital in Rawalpindi in next 10 days. He was addressing a press conference along with Punjab Governor Chaudhary Muhammad Sarwar and Provincial Minister Dr Akhtar Malik.

“We will complete construction work of the hospital in 10 days that will be a record achievement”, Abrar-ul-Haq committed, adding that a ‘Panah Gah’ in Rawalpindi near 6th road area, will be converted into hospital equipped with medical machinery to treat corona virus patients.

Moreover, he claimed that government is also consulting China to get 5 lacks diagnostics kits and financial assistance for the treatment of this global disease. “When we will manage to receive all this from China, the deserving patients’ COVID-19 tests and treatment would be done totally free of cost while others will be treated on special concessional rates”, he committed.

Its pertained to mentioned here that the incumbent chairman was recently hired by the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government in its headquarter in Islamabad although during press conference he was repeatedly seeking help from notes having no proper preparation and knowledge on the issue.

The PRCS chairman added that the institute is making special arrangements of sensitizing and screening at the boarders of the countries where this virus outbreak is reported and these boarders are linked with Pakistan. Chaudhary Muhammad Sarwar said that the government is standing with the nation in the critical situation and it will not be left alone.

“The global pandemic of corona virus would be defeated with unity following the simple precautionary measures issued by the government”, he reaffirmed. On a question regarding zero performance by both government and PRCS in quarantine centers Taftan which become a rich source of the pandemic in the country he didn’t respond.

Besides this, Chaudhary Sarwar said, telemedicine center has been established at National Institute of Health (NIH) and doctors are available for any query on telephone line. He appreciated the role of doctors that they are playing in the front of this war. He asked the Ulema and Mashaikh to come forward and play their role in creating awareness among the general public in adopting precautionary measures.

“The religious Ulema should preach people to avoid gathering and cooperate with government at try their level best”, he said adding that if the scared place like Kaba (in Makah) can be prohibited for pilgrims as precautionary measures then why not such scared places in our country.

A reporter asked regarding not providing safety kits to doctors and paramedics staff the chairman added that they already placed an order to facilitate the frontline soldiers and soon they will provide kits to them,

“Along with government’s due efforts, we all need collective efforts to beat this difficult time the nation is passing through”, Chaudhary Sarwar requested. Chaudhary Sarwar stressed upon all segments of the society to do work without distinction of any cost, creed or group in this national cause .
