KOHAT: Donald Maynard, Public Affairs Officer- US- Consulate General Peshawar, Prof. Dr. Sardar Khan, Vice Chancellor KUST/Patron in Chief of the project and Nasir Shah, Director, Quality Assurance Agency on behalf of Executive Director Higher Education Commission (HEC) jointly inaugurated the Launch webinar of Kohat University of Science and Technology’s Project titled “Capacity Building of the University’s Faculty in academic leadership, research and improved governance” held.
The training program consisting of five training events, each 12 weeks, commencing next week, is funded by US Mission in Pakistan administered by United States Education Foundation Pakistan under the US Pakistan University Partnership Small Grants Program. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sardar also extended his gratitude to the US Embassy & USEFP for their generous funding support extended to KUST for training program as well as thanks to University of Kentucky and Partner Universities for their support in this regards.
He also offered special thanks to HEC representative for his participation in the webinar.
Director Quality Assurance HEC appreciated the KUST & USEFP partnership for capacity building of the University’s faculty in the training program and stressed on its importance for the higher education institutions.
Donald Maynard Public Affair Officer, US Consulate General Peshawar congratulated the HEC, USEFP, KUST and University of Kentucky for organizing the launch webinar and training program and furthering the objectives of the US Pakistan University Grants Program. He thanked the organizers and highlighted the importance of the project in view of US-Pakistan long term relationship.
He hoped that this project will not only help upgrade the professional capacity of University’s Faculty but shall also contribute to the long term socio-political and sustainable economic development of Pakistan.
The Vice Chancellors of Partners Universities also spoke on the occasion and presented their gratitude to the organizers of the training program and their full cooperation to make it a success.
They also highlighted importance of the training for long term sustainability of their respective universities. Prof. Anwar Gilani spoke on the occasion that the long term growth and sustainability depends largely on professional performances of their human resources.
They can perform professionally only if their capacities are built, updated, ungraded and up-scaled with the passage of time and this project will really help us achieve this target.
Dr. Zeeshan Zaib Khattak Associate Professor KUST and Lead Grant Agent for the Project presented an overview of the project objectives, scope and activities, plan and their intended outcomes. At the end Dr. Sardar Khan Vice Chancellor KUST thanked all the participant in for their participation in inaugural webinar and Mr. Donald Maynard in particular for taking out time of his busy schedule and gracing the occasion. The webinar was attended by large number of Universities faculty, students and other stakeholders.
