PTI serves legal notice to KP Governor

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawyer Qazi Muhammad Anwar Advocate served legal notice to Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to announce schedule for provincial assembly elections within 24 hours otherwise to face legal proceedings, on Thursday.

In this regard, Qazi Muhammad Anwar Advocate has served urgent notice and stated that Governor has took oath as well as dissolved Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, it is obligatory for him to announce election schedule within 24 hours.

The legal notice added that Governor didn’t announced election scheduled by playing delaying tactics while he also claimed in a press conference that announcement of poll-date is responsibility of Election Commission of Pakistan. Governor has used different tactics to manipulate election schedule and also claimed that Peshawar High Court cannot directs him for announcement of election date, the legal notice argued.

Following Sou Moto notice decision by Supreme Court of Pakistan, 30th April selected for polling in Punjab by President but Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa once again played with ECP to manipulate the announcement election date which is unconstitutional, the notice added.

The legal notice argued Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to announce date within 24 hours otherwise a complaint should be filed before federation as well as legal proceeding under treason from constitution and other related affairs should be initiated against him. It is worthy to mention that Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa claimed that announcement of election date is more difficult than sighting Eid crescent on Wednesday while talking to media personnel following his meeting with Election Commission of Pakistan.
