LAHORE: In light of the increasing number of coronavirus cases in the province, Punjab government has decided to conduct 10,000 corona tests on a daily basis.
According to details, Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar visited the District Headquarter Hospital (DHQ) Rajanpur and reviewed the treatment facilities for coronavirus infected patients.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister was briefed on the medical facilities provided to patients in the hospital’s isolation wards and Sardar Usman Buzdar directed officials to take the best care of the patients.
On the occasion, Chief Minister Usman Buzdar said that the government is committed to provide quality medical treatment to patients, even in remote district like Rajanpur, and the shortage of doctors and staff in DHQ Rajanpur will be resolved soon.
He said that consultant doctors would also be appointed at DHQ Hospitals and steps will be taken to upgrade DHQ Rajanpur. He added that Rural Health Centers in Fazil Pur, Kot Mithan and Dajal will be upgraded into Tehsil Headquarter Hospitals (THQ).
The Chief Minister further said that a Public Health Emergency has been implemented in Punjab for the protection of the people after which an eye treatment ward would be built at Rojhan hospital as well as Gynecology wards in hospitals of Jampur and Rojhan.
Sardar Usman Buzdar said that the government was taking every step necessary to protect people from the corona virus and the Health Advisory issued for coronavirus prevention is being strictly implemented. He termed taking precautionary measures and social distancing as effective strategies against the deadly outbreak. Punjab is the first province to implement legislation such as ‘Punjab Infectious Diseases Prevention & Control Ordinance 2020’, he added.
Chief Minister Punjab said that the Punjab government built a 1000-bed field hospital at Expo Center Lahore in record time and that Punjab has allowed the induction of 10,000 doctors, paramedical staff and healthcare professionals to bolster its efforts against the virus. He announced that up till now, Punjab has conducted the most coronavirus tests in the country and the daily testing ability will be raised up to 10,000 in a few days, he added.
