Quorum issue persists in National Assembly

ISLAMABAD (APP): The quorum issue persisted in National Assembly on We-dnesday which was adjou-rned after leaving most of the agenda unaddressed.
Out of the four sittings of the ongoing 36th Sess-ion, it was the second sitt-ing which faced quorum is-sued and was adjourned. The 3rd sitting on Septe-mber 21, 2021 also faced quorum issue but it was adjourned by the Chair without counting.
The proceedings of the House started on Wednes-day with Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaisar in Chair. As per rules of procedure and conduct of business in National Assembly, the question hour was being observed during the first hour of the sitting when a PML-N lawmaker Murtaza Abbassi pointed out the quorum.
The Chair directed for counting and announced to adjourn the House due to lack of quorum. The next sitting would be held on September 24, 2021 (Friday) at 1100 hours.
The House did not take up five government bills including the Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2019; the Higher Education Com-mission (Amendment) Bill, 2021; the Higher Education Commission (Second Am-endment) Bill, 2021; the Pakistan Baitul-Mal (Am-endment) Bill, 2021 and the Evacuee Trust Properties (Management and Dispo-sal) (Amendment) Bill, 2021.
Two Ordinances including the Federal Govern-ment Properties Managem-ent Authority Ordinance, 2021 and the Elections (Third Amendment) Ordin-ance, 2021 were not laid.
The House did not take up two calling attention notices, a motion of thanks to President for his address to Parliament on September 13, 2021, three reports of standing committees and four statutory reports.
