PESHAWAR: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) on Wednesday asked the provincial government to allocate 30 per cent share of Annual Development Programme (ADP) in its upcoming fiscal budget for the erstwhile Fata.

Speaking at a press conference, held here at Peshawar Press CLub, the QWP provincial chairman Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao said that PTI government didn’t focus on development of tribal districts during last nine months but it had released funds for mega uplift schemes since the announcement of holding elections in the erstwhile Fata, what he called it a pre-polling rigging.

He asked that government to materialize its promises made with tribal people before merger.

He also asked the transition of complete powers to civil administration and abolishing unnecessary check points in the tribal region.

He said the 26th amendment was passed by National Assembly to increase seats of tribal districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but it has yet not endorsed by the upper house of the parliament which has created uncertainty about the holding of elections in tribal districts so he demanded of the government to immediately end the confusion about this important constitutional amendments.
