Ramazan Sports Gala begins at PPC

PESHAWAR: First Floodlight Ramazan Sports Gala organized by the Sports Committee of the Peshawar Press Club began on Wednesday night.

Chairman Sports Committee Kashif Uddin Syed, President Sports Writers Association KP Ijaz Ahmad Khan, Secretary Peshawar Press Club Zafar Iqbal, Secretary Khyber Union of Journalist Muhammad Naeem, Secretary SWA KP Imran Yousafzai, members were present during the opening ceremony. The Gala was inaugurated by MD Tourism Corporation Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Junaid Khan who as Director General Sports also provided snooker table, two table tennis table, net-polls of the badminton, chess board and other sports facilities to Peshawar Press Club.

During the sports festival journalists will take part in Badminton, Snooker and Chess events.

Speaking on this occasion, Junaid Khan appreciated the management of the Peshawar Press Club for involving all its members in healthy sports activities including cricket, tug of war, footsal, archery, football and swimming. He said it is a good step in providing much needed entertainment through participating in sports activities to the journalists who always worked in tense situation.

Junaid Khan also paid rich tribute to the journalists who rendered great scarifies in the war against terror and many of them lost their precious live during performing their professional obligations. He also appreciated journalists for highlighting and given exposures to the sports persons during various sporting activities held under the supervision of Directorate of Sports KP.

He said the Directorate of Sports KP would extend all out support to the Peshawar Press Club in future as well and the Sports Gala would be a regular feature of the Peshawar Press Club to be supported by Directorate of Sports KP.

He said being Managing Director Tourism Corporation, KP, he said, tour program would be organized for the family of journalist communities so that they could also visit various scenic across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Junaid Khan on this occasion announced Rs. 0.1 for the Sports Committee of the Peshawar Press Club and Rs. 0.1 million as cash prizes for the winners, runners-up and third position holders in snooker, table tennis, chess and badminton.

A total of 280 players are taking part in the Games and one player is eligible for one game, Chairman Sports Committee Kashif Uddin Syed while speaking on this occasion said. He said the aim and objective of the Sports Gala is to provide ample opportunities to the journalists to come and participate and enjoy.

Earlier, MD TCKP formally inaugurated the newly installed snooker table, table tennis tables, badminton and chess facilities.
