Rashid orders steps to maintain law & order in capital

ISLAMABAD: The voting on no-confidence motion is likely to be held on April 04, and the government has taken strict security measures to maintain the law-and-order situation in the National Capital in the days ahead while providing sufficient room to the opposition and Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) for arranging their political rallies, but no one would be allowed to enter Red Zone as per the directives of the Apex court.
It was observed by the Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed during a news conference in Islamabad on Saturday.
Sheikh told the reporters that the Srinagar Highway has been handed over to Rangers and Frontier Constabulary (FC) and all major roads including Srinagar Highway will be kept open during the coming days.
According to him, the Federal administration has granted permission to JUI-F for today’s rally, hence they have to submit another request for tomorrow’s meeting if they intend to arrange another gathering in the capital.
Sheikh informed the media that the government had turned down the PML-N request for the organization of a rally in Islamabad on the Srinagar Highway.
While responding to a media query, Sheikh said that the government will provide full security to all MNAs on the day of voting on the no-confidence motion and no one will not be stopped.
While answering another question, Rashid said that the opposition will stage a sit-in in the Capital the government would take action according to the directives by the court.
According to him, the government can call the military for its assistance if the situation merits after the approval of the Prime Minister and federal cabinet, however, he expressed hope that the situation would not go so offensive.
While commenting on the issue of PPP’s MNA Jam Abdul Karim, who arranged 10 days bail from the court to attend the voting session of the parliament in connection with the no- confidence motion, Sheikh said that he had directed DG FIA to arrest the accused MNA from the airport.
While grilling the opposition on the issue of the no-confidence motion, Sheikh Rashid said that they (opposition) are fools who paved the way for the popularity of Prime Minister Imran Khan through instigating the issue of the no-confidence motion.
While responding to a media question, Sheikh Rashid said that earlier he had suggested the Prime Minister the imposition of governor rule in Sindh, but the Premier rejected his proposal, currently, he has told Prime Minister Imran Khan to move towards an early election in the country while tabling a pro-poor budget in the coming days.
Sheikh claimed that the entire nation firmly stands with Prime Minister Imran Khan and his popularity has increased many folds after the latest move of the opposition (no-confidence motion).
Sheikh Rashid urged all political parties to demonstrate political maturity and avoid any confrontation at this critical juncture. Interior Minister was of the view that Prime Minister Imran Khan will successfully sail through the no-confidence motion and will emerge victoriously despite massive hue and cry of the opposition.
