Renovation Work is in progress in Balahisar Fort

PESHAWAR: In the historic city of Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the great architectural masterpiece ‘Fort Bala Hisar’ is showing its glory even after the passage of many centuries. With the passage of time, new constructions were built on top of the old structure, increasing its height.

The total height of the fort from the ground is 92 feet while the height of the inner walls is 50 feet. The walls are constructed of solid red bricks. This double-walled fort covers a total area of fifteen acres while the inner area is about ten acres.

The fort has a historical significance and with the passage of time, the decoration of this historical heritage continues to ensure the protection.

Since 1948, Fort Balahisar has been used by the Headquarters Frontier Corps North while it is also opened for tourists at different times.

A large number of school, college & university students and families visit here, while tourists from all over the world also visit here. The Department of Archeology Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has continued restoration and renovation of this great masterpiece. Even now, many places in Balahisar are being renovation.

With the passage of time and due to the different seasons, some places need to be renovated so that every part of this historical heritage can be protected. Fort Bala Hisar has an important role in the identity of Peshawar city.

The events connected with this historical heritage highlight its importance. The government of Pakistan issues orders for the protection of many such historical places in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from time to time to ensure the protection of these historical places of Pakistan.
