RTI emerged as an successful organization, says Shaukat

Peshawar: A Search Committee meeting was held for the appointment of Information Commissioner in Right to Information Commission under the chairmanship of provincial minister for Information Shaukat Ali Yousafzai at Chief Minister secretariat. 

Senior journalist Rahimullah Yousafzai, Ex Vice Chancellor of Engineering University Peshawar Imtiaz Gillani, Ex judge Abdul Aziz Kundi, Secretary Administration Muhammad Imtiaz Ayub and Secretary Information Mukhtar Ahmad attended the meeting as search committee members. The committee thoroughly discussed and analysed the received documents of the candidates. 

After the detailed review of the candidates’ documents, the search committee nominated the name of three candidates on merit unanimously.  The names of the three shortlisted candidates will be presented before Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa who will give final approval of one as Information commissioner in RTI Commission.

Minister for Information said that RTI commission has emerged as an successful organization which got appreciation internationally. Every citizen has the right to receive the desire information from any organization through RTI.  He further said that the appointment of Information commissioner is for three years. 

He hoped that the Information Commissioner will use all of his capabilities for public service and to provide accurate and timely information to the public.
