Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meets today for Ramazan moon sighting

PESHAWAR : The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet today (Monday) for sighting the Ramazan moon at the office of Auqaf administrator in Peshawar. 

Ruet-e-Hilal Committee chairman Abdul Khabir Azad will preside over the session which will start after Asr. The committee will make announcement about Ramazan moon sighting or otherwise. 

On the other hand, according to astronomers, although the moon of Ramazan will rise on March 10, it will not be visible at that time, and it will be clearly visible on March 11.

First Taraweeh in Pakistan will take place on the night of March 11 as there is a 95 per cent probability that the first fast will be observed on Tuesday (March 12).

Office timings 

The federal and provincial governments issued timings for government offices during Ramazan.  

According to a notification by the Establishment Division, the working hours for the federal offices working five days a week will be 9am to 3pm while for those that work six days a week, the working hours will be 9am to 2pm. 

On Fridays, the working hours for all offices will be 9am to 12:30pm. 

Punjab 

In Punjab, the timings for offices working five days will be 10am to 4pm and for offices working six days 10am to 3.30pm.

On Fridays, the time will be 9am to 1pm. 

Other provinces 

The Sindh and Balochistan governments also notified the working hours for government offices during Ramazan. 

According to reports, the office hours will be 9am to 3pm, except Friday when the timings will be 9am to 1pm.
