Saudi Arabia, UAE to celebrate Eidul Fitr on Tuesday

RIYADH (Web Desk): Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have declared Tuesday as the first day of Eidul Fitr, Gulf News reported.

Indonesia, which is the largest Muslim country in the world in terms of population, has announced that the Eidul Fitr will be celebrated on Wednesday.

Likewise, Japan and Malaysia have also declared their first day of Eid on June 5.
In Pakistan, the date of Eid would be announced after the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee would sight the crescent of Shawwal on Tuesday.

However, Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry, who has recently prepared a lunar calendar, has asserted that the Eidul Fitr would be celebrated on Wednesday.

According to a statement issued by the UAE Embassy in Bangkok, “The Islamic Center in Thailand has announced that the final day of Ramazan is on Tuesday and Wednesday 5 June will be the first day of Eidul Fitr.”

Australia was among the first countries to declare the first day of Eid. The Australian National Imams Council announced last week that the first day of Eidul Fitr will be on Wednesday, June 5.
