ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Friday granted permission to PTI leaders Sanam Javed and Shaukat Basra to contest the upcoming general elections.

A three-judge bench headed by Justice Muneeb Akhtar of the Supreme Court held the hearing on the appeals filed by Sanam Javed and Shaukat Basra against the rejection of their nomination papers.

The court allowed Sanam Javed to contest elections from NA-119, NA-120 and PP-150.

The apex court set aside the election tribunal and high court’s decision to reject the nomination papers of Sanam and Basra.

The Supreme Court ordered the Election Commission to allot election symbols to both the PTI leaders and said that elections should be held in these constituencies on February 8 as per the election schedule.
