Shama club clinches winning trophy of all district Khyber cricket tournament

LANDI KOTAL: Shama eleven beat Charbagh club in final match of all district Khyber T-20 hardball cricket tournament played here at Tatara sports ground on Wednesday evening.

Senator Taj Muhammad Afridi was the chief guest on the occasion. Beside officer of anti-narcotics Ahmas bin Tariq, Assistant Commissioner Landi Kotal Muhammad Imran, tribal elder Darya Khan Afridi hundreds of thousands of local tribal and sport lovers witnessed the final game.

Before the start of the final match players of the both finalist teams were introduced to the chief guest. Winning the toss, Shama team selected to bat and   scored 147 runs in 20 over on the loss of five wickets. Akbar Ali was the main scorer with 39 runs. Chasing the target Charbagh cricket club cricket club could not compete the spin bowling of the opponent team and all out on 126 runs and thus Shama team won the final match.

Muhtab Afridi got three wickets while Sajid and Amir Hasan secured two wickets each. Jibran Afridi was declared Man of the Match whereas Zewar Shinwari was announced Man of the tournament. Speaking on the occasion the chief guest lauded effort of organizers for setting up healthy activity and said that the tribal youths have extra-talent regarding the cricket game and need patronage.

At the end the chief guest distributed winning trophies and cash prizes to the winning teams and players. The tournament which was organized under the auspices of Tatara Sports Committee was continued for a month and 43 best teams from across the Khyber district participated in the game.
