Sharjeel asks K electric to nominate project manager on BRT Red Line for re-location of utilities

Karachi: Provincial Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon has expressed his annoyance over K- electric on delaying in re-location of it’s installation on the corridor of BRT Red Line project and strictly directed them to gear up the shifting of utilities.

He expressed these views while chairing a meeting with the officials of utility companies including K Electric regarding the BRT Red Line project at his office on Wednesday. Secretary Transport Abdul Haleem Sheikh, Commissioner Karachi Muhammad Iqbal Memon, CEO Trans Karachi Wasif Ijlal , Munir Ahmed Sheikh of K electric, representatives of PTCL, Sui Southern Gas Company and others attended the meeting.

Sharjeel Inam Memon said that K-Electric should fulfill its obligations of relocation of it’s installations in time so that project of public interest could be completed. He said that the BRT Red Line is an important public oriented project, any delay in the project completion due to K Electric would not be tolerated. The Provincial Minister directed the Secretary Transport, Commissioner Karachi and CEO Trans Karachi for conveying a meeting with CEO K-Electric tomorrow on Thursday to resolve the transfer installation issues.

The provincial minister asked k- electric to nominate project manager on it’s part for BRT Red Line Project and said that the project manager should accelerate the work of shifting installation of K Electric from Red Line Project Corridor on daily basis. The provincial minister also ordered the Karachi administration to remove all encroachments in the corridor of the BRT Red Line project within 7 days.

He said that the transport department is working day and night for the timely completion of public transport projects in the Karachi. He instructed Trans Karachi to make alternative routes on the Red Line project in a better way, so that the citizens do not suffer.
