KARACHI: Pakistan’s former wicketkeeper-batsman Rashid Latif, while talking at a show on PTV Sports on Tuesday, revealed that Pakistan’s upcoming tour to South Africa could be delayed due to the remaining Habib Bank Limited (HBL) Pakistan Super League (PSL) season six, which was postponed after a spike in coronavirus cases.

The 52-year-old claimed that efforts were being made to move the tour by 10 to 15 days in order to accommodate the remaining fixtures of the postponed tournament.

“The efforts are to move the South Africa tour 10 to 15 days ahead so then there will be a window available for the PSL matches. South Africa will accept it because Australia has refused their tour. If Pakistan refuses then there will be no cricket in South Africa,” claimed Latif.

“This is the effort of the franchises that remaining matches should be held sooner because the players are from England and once the county cricket begins there will be not much time so try to wrap up the PSL before the county cricket,” he added.

The former cricketer believed that the remaining HBL PSL season six fixtures should be held in Pakistan with full crowds in attendance.

“It should be held in any stadium in Pakistan and a full crowd should be allowed in the stadium. Through protocol, it can happen and the whole of Pakistan is in support. PCB has support from everywhere but if they are not supporting themselves so what can we do,” he said.
