Three-day Urs of Lal Shahbaz begins

SEHWAN: The Special Assistant to the Sindh Chief Minister on Auqaf Syed Ghulam Shah Jeelani on Saturday inaugurated the 766th Urs celebrations of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar by laying floral wreath (Chaddar) on the grave and offered Fateha.

Talking to the journalists after the inauguration ceremony the Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Sindh said that Sindh was a land of sufis who always preached love, brotherhood and peace to people of Sindh and the whole region. He said “we should follow teachings of our sufis to overcome differences with each other and live with harmony, brotherhood, peace and mutual respect.”

He said that it was duty of every citizen to take steps that promoted peace. He hoped that we should pray to the Allah almighty to make our country and Sindh peaceful and free from terrorism and extremism. Syed Ghulam Shah Jeelani said that Govt had made adequate arrangements to provide all possible facilities to the devotees, adding that non governmental organizations along with Govt departments were working to provide relief to the devotees.

He elaborated that administration had made arrangements to facilitate the devotees by establishing 100 cold drinking water camps(sabeels) and the medical camps for providing them drinking water during scorching heat as well as medical assistance in case of any emergency. He said that 40 emergency response centres had also been established.

He said that various activities including traditional Sindhi wrestling popularly known as ” Malakhra”, Horse and Cattle Show, Agro industrial exhibition, Literary conference and musical concerts would be held during three days Urs celebrations. Syed Ghulam Shah Jeelani said that strict security arrangements had been made with installation of CCTV cameras and walk through gates in order to provide security to the devotees. Thousands of police personnel had been deputed for maintenance of law and order situation as there are two million devotees are expected to attend the urs celebrations here at Sehwan, he added.

He told that HESCO management had assured to provide uninterrupted electricity supply to the Sehwan city during three days Urs celebrations. Earlier the Special Assistant to the Sindh Chief Minister distributed clothes among the poor, needy and the widows in front of the main gate of the shrine. He was accompanied by the provincial Secretary Auqaf Riaz Ahmed Soomro, the Deputy Commissioner Jamshoro Capt (r) Fareeduddin Mustafa, the Chief Administrator Auqaf Sindh Muawar Ski Mahessar, the SSP Jamshoro Parvez Ahmad Umrani and other officials.
