Turkish aid body distributes Ramadan aid

KABUL (Agencies): Turkey’s state-run aid agency helped 150,000 families with food aid in Afghanistan on Monday.

The food packages distributed to the families affected by natural disasters, terror attacks and poor economic conditions in northern provinces including Jowzjan, Sar-e Pol and Balkh, the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) said in a statement. The food packages contained flour, rice, oil, tea, sugar, salt, tomato paste, and beans, according to the statement issued by the Mazar-i-Sharif office.

Throughout the Muslim holy month of fasting, TIKA distributes food and humanitarian aid — on a daily basis — to people in need across the world.

Established in 1992, TIKA is responsible for implementing the country’s developmental cooperation policies overseas.
