UK armed forces deaths in service statistics: index

LONDON: Following consultation with internal and external stakeholders, Defence Statistics Health will be removing the following tables and figures from the Excel tables in the next release of the Deaths in the UK Armed Forces National Statistic released on 31 March 2022:

  • Additional Table 5 – presents UK Armed Forces LTA deaths by year and on/off duty
  • Additional Figure 2 – provides a comparison between each Service and the UK general population for the latest five-year period by service and vehicle type
  • Additional Figure 4 – illustrates changes in LTA mortality rates for motor vehicle accidents by Service since the start of data collection in 1984.
  • Additional Figure 5 – illustrates changes in LTA mortality rates for motorcycle accidents by service since the start of data collection in 1984.
  • Additional Figure 6 – illustrates changes in LTA mortality rates for pedestrian accidents by service since the start of data collection in 1984.
  • Additional Figure 7 – shows the age-specific rates for deaths for the latest five-year period by age group and vehicle type.
  • Additional Figure 8 – presents the number of LTA deaths by service and year for the latest five-year period. All changes have been agreed by the Ministry of Defence’s Chief Analyst.
