Uruzgan police deaths 50% down

TIRINKOT: Police casualties decreased by a half this solar year in central Uruzgan province compared to last year’s deaths in combat, an official said.

Police Chief Brig. Gen. Rahmatullah Siqqiui told media persons 580 policemen were killed and 700 others wounded last year compared 222 deaths but this year, showing a 50 percent decline. The police chief did not provide information about how many police were injured this year. He linked the decreased police death to formulation of new strategies and techniques in the province.

He further added police officers were able to thwart militant attacks on Chora, Khas Uruzgan, Char-Chana and Chinarto districts and the provincial capital. Both in districts and the provincial capital police underwent huge reforms, he added.
