F.P. Report

KARACHI/LONDON: Wasay Jalil, Former spokesperson of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement – later called MQM-London – and a staunch supporter of Altaf Hussain, taking a side for a while, on Saturday announced to have resigned of the Altaf Hussain-led Muttahida Qaumi Movement.

Jalil, who is also a former town Nazim of Gulishan-e-Iqbal in Karachi, also announced that he will not join any religious or political party, including any faction of the MQM despite calls for their unionism.

“With heavy heart I tender my resignation from MQM with immediate effect,” Jalil took to twitter from the USA where he had shifted due to differences with MQM London leaders some time back. “I am thankful to Founder and Leader Altaf Hussain for giving me responsibilities of member Central Coordination Committee and Town Mayor. I Request to all Mohajirs to leave aside their differences and get united”.

“I’m not going to join any political or religion organization,” he clarified. Back here in Karachi, another MQM-P MPA joined Mustafa Kama’s PSP.

Addressing a press conference, PSP Chief Mustafa Kamal welcomed Shahani and said, “PS 90 has joined us.” Kamal added that Shahani had not been forced to join PSP; rather he has come after seeing MQM-P ‘destroying’.

Kamal said Shahani has joined PSP by seeing the party’s true vision. He further said that MQM-P had blamed all those who have left the party and said that they had been forced to join PSP. Taking a jibe at them for leveling allegations against PSP, Kamal said that MQM-P should first look at them before blaming others.

In a twitter post, PSP revealed that notables from Ismaili community, Imran Panjawani, Hasan Ghulam Hussain, Prof Adnan, Jan Sher Khan, Mansoor Khawja and Tajdeen, who did not belong to any party too, have also joined PSP.

Mustafa Kamal said that Nawaz Sharif always speaks of respecting the sanctity of the vote but vote is only ‘a piece of paper’. “We say that the voter should be respected,” said the PSP chairman.

He said that the people have rejected the currently serving leaders. Following his ouster, former Prime Minister Nawaz has maintained that the sanctity of vote should be respected. Nawaz said the sanctity of vote is linked to the country’s security, prosperity and development.
