Woman killed, two injured in house fire

TIMERGARA: A woman was burnt alive while two others were critically injured when fire broke out in a house due to gas leakage at Timergara, residents and police said.

They said the house of one Sardar Muhammad, a resident of Timergara was badly damaged and household items were turned to ashes when fire flames engulfed the whole house within no time. Sources said the fire broke out when wife of Sardar Muhammad lit a match for cooking.

As a result Sardar Muhammad’s wife was burnt alive while his second wife and daughter-in-law received burn injuries. Locals rescued the injured and other inmates. One of the injured women was referred to a burn center at Hassan Abdal due to her critical condition. Residents said the fire had inflicted huge loss before the arrival of fire brigade vehicle.

The inmates claimed that gas pipeline outside the house was leaked due to which gas had filled their house. They said the concerned office had been informed about it but to no avail. The inmates claimed that Rs 4.17 million cash and other valuables of the house had been turned to ashes. The residents demanded of the Lower Dir administration to include SNGPL officials in the investigation for their negligence. The Timergara police registered the case and started investigation.
