ASTORE: Heavy snowfall has been recorded in the upper parts of Astore that has made the weather extremely cold and forced the people to remain indoors.
Our correspondent reported that about 5 to 6 inches of snowfall was recorded in Dewsai, Qamri and Mini Marg areas while in Lous Bala and Pereshing and adjacent valleys 3 to 4 inches of snowfall was recorded. The snowfall was still continued that has blocked almost all the roads of these areas.
Due to road blockage the area people were faced with great hardships and even unable to collect daily use items for consumption. The suspension of roads and communication network has caused a surge in prices of daily commodities as the shopkeepers were charging extra money from the consumers. The shopkeepers were saying that they were also spending extra money and efforts to bring groceries to their shops due to roads closures.
The people of Astore have asked the concerned authorities to supply them with wheat and other essential items in winter season before the road network is closed due to snowfall.
