25 ISIS militants killed in airstrikes

JALALABAD: At least twenty militants affiliated with the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group were killed in the airstrikes conducted in Nangarhar province of Afghanistan.

The 201st Silab Corps of the Afghan Military in the East said the latest airstrikes were carried out in the vicinity of Achin district.

According to the Silab Corps, the militants were targeted in Mamand Dara area of the district and as a result at least 25 insurgents were killed. The anti-government armed militant groups including the ISIS insurgents have not commented regarding the report so far.

This comes as the local officials said Saturday at least three ISIS militants were killed in drone strikes in this province.

The officials further added that the airstrikes were carried out by the unmanned aerial vehicles of the US forces in Haska Mina district.

According to the officials, some weapons, ammunition, and explosives of the terror group were also eliminated during the airstrikes.

Earlier, the 201st Silab Corp had said that nine ISIS militants were killed during the air and ground operations in Achin district.

AIP adds: An airstrike killed six Tajikistani militants in Warduj district of Badakhshan province, Afghan army claimed Monday.

The airstrike targeted a base of Taliban in the centre of Warduj district the other night, killing six Tajikistani militants, said Abdul Khalil Khalil, press officers of Afghan National Army (ANA) 20th Division in northeastern Afghanistan.

Two Humvees and some arms of Taliban were also destroyed in the airstrike, he said without disclosing if the airstrike was carried out by Afghan or US forces.

Afghan defense ministry confirmed the airstrike.

The defense ministry said 25 Daesh fighters among 78 anti-government gunmen were killed and 24 others wounded during operations in 12 other provinces of the country.

It said seven suspects were also detained.
