About 15,000 patients treated in a month, says Chairman

PESHAWAR: In order to look over basic health facilities at health centers in merged tribal district, the Chairman Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) Merged Areas Branch, Asif Khan Mehsud along with representatives of Islamabad headquarter visited the health centers in Fort Slop and Tawda Chena area of Bara tehsil Khyber tribal district. 

Flanked by representatives of national headquarter Islamabad, Faheem Qaiser, Saba Hussain, Mateen Saeed and Secretary Merged Areas, Saeed Kamal Mehsud, the Chairman was briefed by provincial health staff of PRCS with regard to provision of various health facilities in health centers. He was informed that health facilities including ambulance for referral, medicines and others are being provided to patients of the area.

Later, talking to media persons, Chairman PRCS MA Branch, Asif Khan Mehsud, said that his organization has functionalized four health centers two each in Khyber and Kurram tribal districts and provided treatment to around 15,000 patients in last one month. Out of these patients, a great number of female and children were also treated in health facilities by trained health staff of PRCS, he informed.

He further added that PRCS believes in provision of basic health facilities to people of merged districts and for this purpose, the organization has taken initiative by making operational four basic health centers (BHUs) in Khyber and Kurram tribal districts. While keeping in view the worsening health situation in merged districts, Mr Asif Khan, said his organization is committed to provide health facilities to people of merged districts at their door steps.

However, he also thanked the district administration and other relevant authorities for extending their full patronage in issuance of no objection certificate (NOC) for representatives of national headquarter. He clearly said the PRCS and district administration could decrease the miseries of local tribesmen with an integrated approach.

One of the locals of Tawda Chena of Bara tehsil, Ghulam Khan, said that the organization has done great job by making this health center functional as it reduced their problems manifold. He also lauded the provision of ambulance service for health center and saying now it will be easy for them to carry serious patients easily other hospitals.
