Accused who allegedly raped minor girl held

MARDAN: Police officials on Monday have gotten five-days custody for remand of the accused who allegedly raped an 8-years old grade-3 student in sugar-cane fields on last Saturday in Kharky, a suburb area of district Mardan.

Dr. Mian Saeed Ahmad, district police officer Mardan, while speaking in a press conference held at his office said that they had presented the accused in the court of judicial magistrate of Katlang tehsil on Monday which granted five-day custody of the accused to officials concerned for his remand.

The DPO told journalists that the 45-years old accused identified as Muhammad Nawab resident of Reedone Kharky area took the 8-yeaers old minor girl named Rubina to nearby sugar-cane fields and forcibly subjected her to sexually assault when she was on her way back to home from school on Saturday.

He said the accused thought that the minor girl would not tell to parents about her rape that was why he set her free without hurting or killing her but she informed her family-members as she reached to home. He, however, the relevant Kharky police station on the complaint of Muhammad Gul, father of the victim lodged FIR under sections 376 and 53 on Sunday in the rape incident against the accused Muhammad Nawab.

He said that they had immediately raided house of the accused and arrested him as the victim’s father approached police officials for registration of FIR in the case. During the press conference, DPO Dr. Mian Saeed Ahmad Khan presented the accused before media-persons who admitted his rape crime in their presence as well.

The DPO claimed that the minor victim had been taken to Inzargay type-D hospital of Katlang tehsil Where Dr. Fozia had confirmed her alleged rape after carrying out her medical examination. He said that the accused had married two wives from whom he had five- daughters and three sons.

He further pointed out that he had constituted an investigative-committee under the supervision of Superintendant of Police (investigation) to probe into the case. He said that they would provide all kind of assistance and protection to 8-years old raoe victim and her family-members.

To a query regarding case of 4-years old Asma, DPO Dr. Mian Saeed Ahmad Khan said that after addition of 7-ATA in the FIR of said baby girl victim, a Special Joint Investigation Team had been constituted under his supervision which were also included expert officials of ISI, MI, Special Branch, IB CTD and other police officials concerned. He claimed that the JIT would now re-start investigation into the case of 4-years old Asma.
