KABUL: An airstrike killed five militants of the Taliban group in northern Sar-e Pul province of Afghanistan, the military officials said Friday.
The officials further added that the security forces conducted the airstrike in the restive Sayad district of Sar-e Pul province.
“An airstrike in Sayad district killed five Taliban fighters and destroyed a small Taliban weapons cache,” the officials said.
The Taliban group has not commented regarding the airstrike so far.
Sar-e Pul is among the relatively volatile provinces in North of Afghanistan where anti-government armed militants including Taliban have active presence in some of its remote districts.
However, the Afghan forces conduct counter-terrorism operations against the anti-government armed elements in the restive parts of the province in a bid to suppress the anti-government armed elements who often attempt to expand their foothold in the province.(Khaama Press)
