AWKUM hosts 1st international conference on Genetic Defense against Diseases

MARDAN: The College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry at Abdul Wali Khan University in Mardan inaugurated its first international conference on the theme of “Genetic Defense Against Diseases.” The conference, conducted in collaboration with the Pakistan Science Foundation, Higher Education Commission Islamabad, and the Department of Eco Life Pharma Islamabad, featured 50 research papers on its opening day.

Special guests at the event included Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Sultan Ayaz, addressing participants from Thailand, the United States, Russia, China, Turkey, and Afghanistan via online participation. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Sultan Ayaz expressed hope that participants effectively utilized their sciences, experiences, and abilities during the conference, contributing to the significant progress of research activities. He acknowledged the presence of international participants and spoke about the cooperative efforts between universities, emphasizing the role of educational institutions in such scientific endeavors.

Dr. Sultan Ayaz stated that the positive outcomes from the conference encourage the university’s research environment for more initiatives. He expressed optimism that such conferences would continue to address global challenges effectively. Acknowledging the contributions of universities, he called for future conferences to strengthen relationships, fostering collaboration for the acquisition of scientific and technical skills.

Professor Dr. Sultan Ayaz highlighted the crucial role played by the Election Commission of Pakistan, not only in completing the country’s electoral system but also in promoting awareness about the importance and inclusion of voting rights in urban areas. He called on people to utilize their votes responsibly for electing correct leaders and representatives.

Concluding his address, Professor Dr. Sultan Ayaz expressed hope for more conferences of this nature in the future, promoting scientific collaboration and global understanding. The Chief Organizer of the conference, Professor Dr. Taher Usman, and Conference Chair Professor Dr. Sher Bahadar successfully conducted the proceedings of the event.
