AWKUM to terminate 70 illegally appointed employees

F.P. Report

PESHAWAR: The administration of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM) has decided to issue the termination order of more than 70 employees allegedly appointed through illegal means and on fake documents in the university on BS-16 post and other posts. However, the procedure of the termination will be decided in the syndicate meeting to be held on Monday.

According to a senior official, in September 2015 the AWKUM administration issued an advertisement No-48 for the appointment of Demonstrators BS-16, Office assistant PBS- 16, UDC-PBS-14, KPO-PBS-11 and Lab assistant PBS-7 posts.  Interview and test were conducted after which several male and female candidates were appointed on the mentioned post.  The University Administration allegedly gave a concession to four candidates including Muhammad Ayub, Muhammad Farooq, Nadia Yousaf and Ali Akbar.

Meanwhile, some private colleges allegedly provided fake certificates to some candidates helping them in appointment on BPS-16.

On the other some candidates who even did not appear in test and interview still got appointed on key positions.

Sources said that the AWKUM preferred relatives of University officials and blue-eyed candidates in the appointments setting aside the merit.

The decision to take action against the illegally appointed employees was taken on the directives of Peshawar High Court (PHC) on petition of two candidates and an inquiry committee was also constituted on directives of Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) to probe into the issue.
