Minorities ask govts to release Rs 200 million compensation package

F.P Report

PESHAWAR: Expressing deep concern over unexpected delay in release of compensation package for affected families, representatives of minorities in provincial city have stressed the federal and provincial government to facilitate them by releasing Rs 200 million for those families who lost their near and dear some four years back in Peshawar Church blast.

Speaking to media on Sunday at Peshawar, General Secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Minority Wing, Javed Gill blasted the central and provincial government for their failure to facilitate the affected family members of Peshawar Church blast that took place some four years back.

He alleged that governments had underestimated the minorities and deprived them of compensation package.

Reminding the pledges, the federal and provincial government had made few years back, he informed that members of dozens of families had lost their lives in that explosion who are still awaiting for the compensation package. After the blast, he added that federal government had announced Rs 100 million and the same package was also announced by provincial government too.

Unfortunately, both governments are least bothered to instantly release the package by facilitating affected families. The minorities representatives have earlier on various programs expressed deep concern over unexpected delay in release of compensation package and pleaded governments to take swift step in this regard, he added.

Flanked by other office bearers of Jamaat-e-Islami Minority Wing, Mr Gill, clearly asked governments to ensure release of package otherwise they would initiate a protest demonstration till the acceptance of all of their demands.
