Bilawal announces long march against government from Feb 27

F.P. Report

LAHORE: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Thursday announced a long march against the government from Karachi on February 27.

Bilawal Bhutto while addressing a press conference in Lahore said they will start the movement to overthrow the government from Lahore.

The PPP’s sudden call for the long march will be a sign of worry for the other opposition parties as well as the Pakistan Democratic Alliance had announced to hold a long march from March 23. A visibly divided opposition may result in another failure to gather the masses to oust the government.

Bilawal Bhutto said the people of Pakistan want to get rid of the government.

The country’s economy has been destroyed under the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) government, added Bilawal.

The PPP leader said that a conspiracy to reverse the former tribal areas is being hatched with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK).

Bilawal said that the people of Pakistan have no food on the table and no gas. The promises made to the people of FATA have not been kept, he said.

He said the people of Pakistan will end the PTI government and also demanded holding immediate and transparent elections.

Bilawal said that the people of Pakistan are in a difficult situation at present and added said that the problems of the country will be solved only through democracy.

He said PTI hid foreign funding for seven years.

Bilawal urged the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to further investigate into foreign funding case and alleged that the PTI continued to use foreign funding against democratic forces.

Bilawal said that the same local body system should be brought in Punjab as in Sindh. Bilawal said that instead of giving 10 million jobs, the positions have been taken away.

He said the workers will be his strongest arm in the fight (against the government).

Bilawal said the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) did not consult PPP on the Long March.

“No decision has yet been made on the no-confidence motion,” added Bilawal.

The PPP chairman said the PPP has always distributed power and has never taken it away.

He added that Zardari was the most powerful civilian president but he handed over all his powers to the parliament.

Bilawal said he wants the provinces to be empowered and the local body system strengthened. “Murad Ali Shah has given a new local body system in Sindh,” added Bilawal.

The PPP chairman further said that Imran Khan is the only person who became rich in 3 and a half years.

Moreover, Bilawal posed the question for the premier and said that Imran Khan should tell how income increased after coming to power.
