BNP to part ways if govt not fulfill its promises: Mengal

F.P. Report

SHIKARPUR: Chairman Balochistan National Party (BNP) Sardar Akhtar Mengal has said that Balochistan has been deprived of their rights and adding that the province is facing a lot of problems.

Mengal said this while talking to media persons at Shikarpur Press Club. He said that BNP gave a path by making a six point agreement in August 2018 and a nine point agreement during the election of President of Pakistan with sitting government to resolve the issues of Balochistan.

He said that if the government is sincere to resolve the core issues of Balochistan then government should come forward and play its role for the betterment of the Balcohistan province because without development Balochistan could not reach up to the mark because of the people of Balochistan have been deprived from roads, employment, education and health facilities and government could resolve the aforesaid issues for the betterment of the province. He claimed that government has inked a six point and a nine point agreement after putting signature on agreement government “direct or indirect” has admitted that the issues of Balochistan are real.

Mengal further said that you have heard the name of Gwadar and its development, but the ground reality was bloody different there is no water, electric and gas facility in Gwadar despite getting Rs65 billion dollars, but 70 per cent of amount has allegedly been spent in Punjab province while two per cent of amount has not been spent in Balochistan and Sindh,

However, he said that government has announced to build airport and power project with the estimated cost of Rs1 billion dollar, but such sort of projects are only in papers, which is sheer injustice with Balochistan owing to which inferiority has been increased amongst the people of Balochistan.

Replying to a question, regarding the development of Gwadar, he said that the people of Balochistan are in favour of development, but no one would be allowed to change the real demography of Balochistan in the name of development. Another question in respect of 18th Amendment, he replied that after 18th Amendment provinces could not given autonomy, but given a little powers and now if 18th amendment may rollback the inferiority would be increased and it would be harmful. Another question, he said that if government would fail to fulfill its promises made by it through an agreement, BNP would obviously part way with government, but according to agreement BNP has given a time period of one year to government and BNP would wait for one year.

Answering to a question about the development of Gwadar, he said that one road starts from Gwadar has been made during the regime of General Pervaiz Mushraf with the funding of Asian and World Bank otherwise there is no development in Gwadar, he claimed.

He urged the government to utilize f at least 50 per cent of funds and its resources in development projects so that Balochistan could develop and inferiority could be curbed. The number of leaders including Ghulam Rasool Brohi, Dr Bashir Ahmed Brohi, Muhammad Siddique Brohi, Muhammad Nawaz Brohi, Rafique Jaan Brohi and others were also flanked.
